Chinese Drywall

DEFECTIVE AND CONTAMINATED DRYWALL THAT IS POLLUTING BUILDINGS BY OFF-GASSING SULFIDE AND DISULFIDE COMPOUNDS.

Chinese drywall can cause many problems. Sulfides and other chemicals are off-gassed in the air of a structure. Itchy skin, headaches, nosebleeds, and other allergy symptoms may be experienced by the occupants of these structures. HVAC systems and appliance failure in relatively new units have also been reported.

Contaminated drywall went up in commercial buildings all across the south, even in the Savannah area. During the early to mid 2000s the combination of building boom and extensive repairs in areas hit by natural disasters resulted in a shortage of domestic building supplies. Over 550 million pounds of Chinese drywall was imported.

Just two or three sheets of contaminated drywall in a building is enough to cause problems. A history of health complaints, failure of appliances, and corrosion of wiring may be what it takes to determine that Chinese drywall is present in your structure.
